 - Quien Somos? -

For those who do not know me, my name is Xochi Quetzalli and I have been walking the path of an AjQ ij the past 12 years. In 2015, during my 2nd trip to Guatemala I was initiated to this path of Mayan Medicine and the world of Maya Curanderismo by my teachers, curanderas Nana Tomasa Suye and her eldest daughter Nana Sebastiana.

In the past decade we have continued to work together, whether i bring my maestras up north to my home or i travel to theirs, yet our relationship has continued, along with more learning.

This will be my 6th journey to these lands, 8th reunion with mis maestras, and yet the first journey bringing a group of like minded womxn with me.

Nana Tomasa Suye, Grandmother and matriarch of her family is a powerful healer and speaker. She is an initiated Aj’Q’ij, along with most of her children. Her family is very important to her and she has 7 children & dozens of grandchildren. Most of them all reside together on the same parcel in their hometown Chichicastengo. With the help of her children, she heads their healing center - Healing and Holistic Recuperation Center - Ixpiyakok Ixmukane.

Nana Sebastiana is a profound healer, channeler, and curandera.  She is an  Aj’Q’ij / Mayan Daykeeper and healer specializing in full body mayan massage, reiki, and mayan womb massage. She also worked alongside her grandmother growing up, learning the ways of an indigenous midwife. She now works alongside her mother, when she is not traveling and teaching internationally.  She has a true gift in her hands, is extremely intuitive, & a very powerful masseuse. She also offers limpias, divinations, and heart to heart platicas. She will be available for these extra services when she joins us on the pilgrimage.

Nana Xochi Quetzalli or Xochi for short, is an initiated Aj’Qij’ (Mayan Daykeeper/Spiritual Guide) and as well an Artist, Healer, and Teacher. She offers classes and healings based in Curanderismo & Mexica or Maya Cosmology at Spirit Medicines Folk Healing Center in Eureka Ca. She honors her ancestors of Native California Indian, Mexican, & European descent in all the work she does. Her lifelong commitments to her dances, Sundance and Moondance for the past decade have shaped her at a young age and brought her to this path.  She has worked in ceremony with many nations all over Turtle Island, is a pipe carrier, and walks the Good Red Road.

Is this Pilgrimage what you are looking for?

This is an intimate, limited size group pilgrimage for up to 10 womxn who are interested in connecting to the Maya Ceremonial traditions. There will be daily ceremonies, sunrise mayan fire ceremonies, & group full moon ceremonies. This will not be your normal luxurious, relaxing retreat, yet instead an intensive immersion into Mayan Culture and el Saq’Be (The Mayan white sacred path of healing).

Rural Transportation

Much of the travel will be through the rural highlands of Guatemala on fast, curvy mountain roads. Transport is included and will consist of shared private vans & small motor boats across the lake + a national flight from Guatemala City to Flores. Travel in Guatemala is unique, fast, and an arduous journey at times.

Shared Lodging

Lodging will consist of shared double rooms with 2 single beds in Antigua & Chichicastenango Hotels. On the lakes lodging will be large AirBnB rentals with shared rooms and possibly shared queen beds in Santa Cruz and Peten.

Ceremony

There will be daily community sunrise or sunset Mayan Fire ceremonies, travel to different sacred altars, and late night full moon rituals. All are encouraged to participate daily with Nana Xochiketzalli and the different guest AjQ ijab, but if one decides they need to rest and abstain from ritual, that is ok.

We will be meeting up with Nana Tomasa y Nana Sebastiana in their hometown on day 7. There we will visit their home, tour their healing center, and then all travel together to Flores to visit Tikal Pyramids/Ceremonial Sacred Center.

This style of group travel may bring up shadow work or unaddressed traumas, yet there will be space to face these “underworlds” while being held by the different AjQ’ijab.
